Event ended

What do nuclear power stations, canals, fish sticks, speed bumps, and other artifacts have in common?  How can one write an environmental history of the potato?  And, of course, would Trotsky use computers to achieve world revolution? In this talk, drawing largely on his own work, Paul Josephson will discuss the strengths and disadvantages to various approaches of doing environmental history at the junction of history of technology.

Paul Josephson, author of 14 books, is professor of history at Colby College, Waterville, Maine, USA, and also affiliated with MIFI and TomskGU as visiting history professor. He studies "big science" projects and history of technology, 1900-present.

The lecture will take place on November 8, 15.00.
Address: Myasnitskaya str., 11, room 508.
