«Imperial Collapse or Revolution? The End of the Spanish Empire in America»: a talk by prof. Federica Morelli

On 15 May at 18:00, within the framework of the research seminar of HSE School of History prof. Federica Morelli (Univeristy of Turin, Italy) will give a talk entitled «Imperial Collapse or Revolution? The End of the Spanish Empire in America».

Prof. Federica Morelli is a well known specialist in the history of Spanish America, the author of «Territorio o Nazione. Riforma e dissoluzione dello spazio imperiale in Ecuador, 1765-1830» (Territory or Nation. Reform and dissolution of the imperial space in Ecuador, 1765-1830, published in 2001, translated in French and Spanish), «Progetto di costituzione della Repubblica napoletana presentato dal governo provvisorio al comitato di legislazione» (Constitutional project of Neapolitan Republic, with A. Trampus, published in 2008), «Il mondo atlantico. Una storia senza confini, XV-XIX secolo» (The Atlantic World. A History without Borders, 15th-19th centuries, published in 2013), «L’indipendenza dell’America spagnola. Dalla crisi della monarchia alle nuove repubbliche» (The Spanish American Independence. From the crisis of the Monarchy to the New Republics, published in 2015), «The Free People of Color in the Spanish Atlantic: Race and Citizenship» (forthcoming).

The talk will be given in English.

The seminar will be held at Staraya Basmannaya 21/4, building 3 («korpus L»). Room L-301.
