Yu.I. Shcherbina’s Speech at the "Hermeneutical Circle" Meeting of the School of Philosophy

On May 17, 2017, a regular meeting of the “Hermeneutical Circle” of the HSE School of Philosophy was held. A report on the fourth Jan Patočka’s heretical essay was made by the research assistant of IL, post-graduate student of the school of philosophy Yulia Shcherbina.

The Hermeneutical Circle meeting continued the conversation about the philosophy of the history of the Czech phenomenologist Jan Patočka, started in the winter. This time, the main themes of the discussion were concern for the soul, responsibility and orgiastic beginning, the theme of which Patočka develops in the conversation about whether the technical civilization is doomed to decline. The meeting was divided into two parts: the first part was devoted to Patočka's fourth essay, which was presented by Yulia Scherbina, and the second - to the fifth essay and its interpretation by Jacques Derrida, about which A.V.Yampolskaya shared her ideas.
