Professor Helena Knyazeva gave a talk as an invited speaker at the "World Congress on Complex Thought. The Challenge of a Globalized World" (8 & 9 DEC. 2016 UNESCO — PARIS)

On December 1, Natalia Samutina participated in the international 'Dirt, Punk, Trash' workshop, organized by Amsterdam University in the framework of the project “Sublime Imperfections” (dr. Ellen Rutten). 

On November 23-25 a research seminar on literary studies ‘Etats des Etudes Litteraires: Theories, Methodologies, Pratiques’ was held in Lausanne, Switzerland. Anastasiya Bonch-Osmolovskaya, Associate Professor at the School of Linguistics presented a report on Tolstoy.Digital – a project dedicated to producing a digital edition of the complete works by Leo Tolstoy.

On December 1 the Center's research fellow Jessica Werneke gave a presentation “From Education to Elitism: Amateur Photography and Photography Clubs in the Late Soviet Period” at the scholarly seminar of the International Center for the History and Sociology of World War II and Its Consequences

Elena Zemskova, Elena Ostrovskaya, Maya Kucherskaya, Alexey Vdovin, and Pavel Nerler spoke on various aspects of the history of Russian literature and culture.

Neurolinguistics laboratory held an open science lecture "Aphasia: speech disorders in brain damage". The lecture was intended for everyone and did not require prior knowledge.

On October 21, Emily Alane Erken (PhD, Lecturer at School of Music, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio) presented a paper  “The Classic in the Contemporary: Opera Fans’ Online War for Russia’s Soul”  on the Research Center for Contemporary Culture Academic Seminar.

Today computer and corpora technologies play an important role in language studies and language learning along with traditional methods of analysis. New corpora resources and software for language analysis are regularly developed. Experts from Russia, CIS and other countries discussed the latest achievements in this field at the international conference ‘Corpus Technologies, Digital Humanities and Modern Research’.

The conference was held this year in Venice, Italy, on September 26th-29th.

Natalia Samutina, leading research fellow of IGITI, reported on "World-Building in Crossover Writing" at the international conference "Expanding Universes. Exploring Transmedial & Transfictional Ways of World-Building" held on September 23-25 in Krakow.
